Chapter 10 righting promp

2. Percy gets to try his hand at driving a bus in this chapter. Defend or attack this proposition: “The national driving age should be lowered to 13.” Can you think of any reasons that might actually convince Congress to pass such a law?

Nope, Nope, Nope, and nope. They would never agree to that one because 13 years old are to immature, cars would be a endangered species.

After Reading Chapter 10

If Percy and his friends traveled round trip by train it would only take 7 hours and cost $2,000. If they traveled by bus it would take too long.

Chapter 9

1.Why does Percy feel miserable once he gets his own cabin?
Annabeth and Grover got things from their dads and he didn't.

2.Based on the newspaper article Percy finds under his door, what is happening in the real world while Percy is in camp?
Everyone thinks he murdered his mom and caused the car crash.

3.What is the master bolt?
Zeus' symbol of power.

4.Why does Zeus think Percy stole the bolt?
Because he lived in New York and he was close to Olympus then and during the council meeting he could have slipped in and stolen it.

5.Why can’t the gods retrieve the bolt themselves?
It is really in the underworld they just don't know that.

6.What bothers Percy about the Oracle’s prophecy?
Chiron says that he needs to go on a quest. The Oracle says the prophecy it just says you are going on a quest, but by the way you are going to fail.

7.According to Chiron, what evidence suggests that Hades stole the lightning bolt?
He can turn into darkness and he could easily slip in during the council meeting.

8.Why does Percy have to travel overland?
If he travels in air, Zeus will him burnt toast. If he travels by underland, well, let's not get to that. Too awful.

9.What will happen on the summer solstice if the lightning bolt is not returned?
World War III will start between the gods and nature will be fighting with itself.

10.What is unusual about the storm that moves in over camp?
It usually doesn't rain unless they want it to.

Chapter 8

1.Why are the counselors having a hard time deciding who Percy’s Olympian parent is?
He's not good at anything except canoeing.

2.How does Percy surprise everyone during his first sword class? How do you think he was able to do this? He knocked Luke's sword out of his hand, and Luke's the best sword player ever. He did this because he was in the water.

3.According to Grover, why did the “Big Three” gods swear never to have any more children?
Their children are just too powerful.

4.Why does the story about Thalia make Percy feel “hollow and guilty”?
Because she wanted to save the other two half bloods while she sacrificed herself.

5.In capture-the-flag, why does Percy feel like he’s being left out of the action?
He is guarding the creek and the other team is just going the other way.

6.How does Percy manage to overcome the kids from Ares’s cabin?
He was guarding the creek by the water. That's the only way because of the water.

7.What was Annabeth’s plan to win the flag?
Annabeth uses Percy to get Clarisse out of her position so they could get the flag.

The first time he was in the water his sword cut healed. So she thought it would do the same thing.

9.What does Chiron say about how the hellhound got into camp?
Someone summoned it.

10.When you find out Percy’s true identity, are you surprised or did you see it coming? What clues were given earlier in the book?
I saw it coming.
The Poseidon cabin, when he stuck his head in, and then the water when it healed his wounds.
Who is Argus?
A guy that has a bunch of eyes in the story.

Why can he never be surprised?
He has a bunch of eyes. He sees in every direction.

What gift does Luke give to Percy?
Winged shoes to travel.

Why can’t Percy use them?
Zeus is the master of the sky so if he traveled by air he would be burnt toast.

When it has a cap on it looks like a ballpoint pen when uncapped it is a sord

What is Mist?
The Mist is something that keeps normal people from seeing magic stuff and swords.

What are some of the reasons Annabeth gives for why Poseidon and Athena don’t get along?
Posiden brought a girlfriend to Athena's Temple and it made Athena mad. Also because she got named after a city that Poseidon wanted.

According to Grover, why did Percy’s mom marry Gabe?
To make Percy's scent disappear.

Percy says he’s not going on the quest to retrieve the lightning bolt. What’s his real reason for
going?
To stop a greater force.

How does Percy sneak to the front of the bus?
He is wearing Annabeth's invisibility Yankee's cap.

Why doesn’t Percy leave the bus when he has the chance?
When his two friends are in danger, (Grover and Annabeth), he knows that he can't complete the quest without them so he goes back and saves them.

How do Percy, Grover and Annabeth lose their luggage?
When the kindly ones are on the bus and they are fighting them, as soon as they got off, the bus exploded and they forgot to get their luggage and all their money.
Many of the campers at Camp Half-Blood have their own Magic item. Clarisse has an electric spear. Annabeth has a baseball cap that turns her invisible. What Magic item would make sense for Percy, as the son of the Sea God? Design your own Magic item.
Well he should have a Magic spear of water. He would call it The Master Spear. Let me explain, he would have a spear of water that he can mold into anything, and he can change its shape with his mind. He can change it into an ice spear then throw it at someone or something. Also he can make it as thin or as thick as he pleases. It can fold into a ball. He can make it as big or small as he wants. He also can change it into a snowboard, shield. The bigger it gets the thinner it is. It's pretty cool.

5. Have you looked further into some of the Greek Mythology? If so, at what?

When we are reading the book you just start to like it, then boom! ''Sorry we have to stop'' it makes me so mad, sad, and every other felling.
My favorite characters are Grove (a syntar), Percy Jackson (main character), that's about it.
I think my favorite scene is the bathroom that he soaked Clarisse.
I love this novel it's the best one I've read, it has drama, happy moments, sad moments, and you just can believe in the fairy tale it's GREAT!!!

Who I'm Related To

There a few gods that I fell like I'm related to. For one Artemis helps deliver baby's but brings death with her arrows.

Chapter 1:b

"My teacher asked me, "Have you ever learned something in school you were absolutely sure you were never going to use". That got me thinking to all the things we learned. Math, Science, English,
and all the other things. I got it! When I learned a different way to do division. I do plan old long division, but he told me about "Latice math" so there's my story.

The Lightning Thief

7. You have been granted one magical item of your choice. What would this item be,
and what power would it have? Well I would ask for Magic Powers like a witch, then I would use my Magic Powers to fly, cast spells, and have a bunch of fun.

5. Do you believe in anything that science can’t prove -- such as magic, or ghosts, or
creatures like the Loch Ness monster? Of course what's a kid that has no belief I'll tell 'ya there a dud a plan old dud a kids life needs to be exciting.

3. In Ancient times, the Greeks had gods for many important forces in their lives --
the sea, thunderstorms, farming, music, medicine, poetry, archery, etc. Why do
you think they imagined many different gods rather than just one would it make life more confusing or less confusing? I say it's more confusing because you have to remember there name, what they do, and what ceremony they like.

4. Young children often imagine that their parents aren’t really their parents. What
would it be like if you suddenly found out that you had a “real” father or mother
you never knew about? What if this person was extremely rich and powerful –
would you accept them as a parent? Course not, the one that took you in should be the one that has a place in your heart, not the one that dumped you on there door step.
